WOMEN’S SECTION
The Women's Section of the Royal British Legion is a
friendly and lively group that welcomes new members. The
section meets at the Legion Hall on the 2nd Thursday of
each month 13.45-15.30, except in December. Should you
wish to join us, it can be done at one of these meetings.
We
are
of
course
a
charitable
organisation,
and
during
the
year
organise
various
events
in
order
to
raise
funds
for
our
benevolent
works.
There
are
also
parties,
tea
afternoons,
and
trips
to
places
of
interest
for
our
members.
Please
come
along
to
one
of
our
meetings
and
give
us
a
try,
we're
sure
you'll
be
pleased
you
did.
Princess
Anne
is
President
of
the
Women's
Section
of
the
Royal
British
Legion,
and
we
are
a
countrywide
network
of
996 branches, with a membership strength of almost 50,000.
The
Women’s
Section
promotes
welfare
by
charitable
means,
of
men
and
women
who
have
served,
and
dependants
of
those
who
have
served,
in
our
Navy,
Army,
Air
Force
and
Auxiliary
Forces.
As
well
as
the
Mercantile
Marine
afloat
in
hostile
waters,
or
any
member
of
Voluntary
Aid Societies.
For over 85 years we haveprovided care
and support for the ex-Service community
by means of various welfare work schemes.
Our extensive programme provides financial
help to ex-Servicewomen, wives, widows
and the widowers of ex-service personnel
and their children.
