WOMEN’S SECTION
The Women's Section of the Royal British Legion is a
friendly and lively group that welcomes new members. The
section meets at the Legion Hall on the 2nd Thursday of
each month 13.45-15.30, except in December. Should you
wish to join us, it can be done at one of these meetings.
We are of course a charitable
organisation, and during the
year organise various events
in order to raise funds for our
benevolent works. There are
also parties, tea afternoons,
and trips to places of interest
for our members. Please
come along to one of our
meetings and give us a try, we're sure you'll be pleased you
did.
Princess Anne is President of the Women's Section of the
Royal British Legion, and we are a countrywide network of
996 branches, with a membership strength of almost 50,000.
The Women’s Section promotes welfare by charitable
means, of men and women who have served, and
dependants of those who have served, in our Navy, Army,
Air Force and Auxiliary Forces. As well as the Mercantile
Marine afloat in hostile waters, or any member of Voluntary
Aid Societies.
For over 85 years we haveprovided care
and support for the ex-Service community
by means of various welfare work schemes.
Our extensive programme provides financial
help to ex-Servicewomen, wives, widows
and the widowers of ex-service personnel
and their children.
